RESPECT THE YOUTH AFFAIRS
Sun, 01/09/2011 - 17:23. Baguio City – KILUSAN (KPD) and YND (Youth for Nationalism and Democracy) North Luzon Chapter salute the vigilance of Hon.Karmin Yangot – SK Federation President of Baguio city in her early exposure of the anomalies in the upcoming SK Federation 2011 national election. "Ms. Yangot’s refusal to accept tempting money offers and proposals serves as insult to those who cheat and buy votes. Despite being young and inexperienced in politics, displaying such principled decision is really admirable. She knows how vote is equated to dignity," says Jim Pag-a, Secretary General of the militant KILUSAN North Luzon regional chapter. The group is critical of May 2010 national elections and remains unaligned and non-partisan. Though the organization aspires for political change, it does not believe that seeking positions in the government is the key to social change. Instead it believes that mass organizing is the main key in achieving collective success. KILUSAN (KPD) has been fighting for genuine democracy and political reforms since its founding in June 1998 in the University of the Philippines-Quezon City. KPD was formed when multisectoral leaders of organizations nationwide joined forces calling for a strong nationalist and democratic movement that will effect a genuine social change. The group challenges those running for office and those elected to effect significant change in the people’s lives. "Vote buying, bribery and terrorism are not new. As per local experience, violence occurs mostly on the local level. “Bakit? Kasi ito ang pundasyon ng mga trapo sa kanilang pagpapalakas for the incoming national election. Hence, we do not wonder why big guys would offer voters and aspiring candidates in SK elections. This is high time for them to stop and learn to respect the future of the country,” Mr. Pag-a added. The militant group is calling on the youth to join hands and condemn such gross disrespect for youth affairs such as the SK.
